Meet Toun: Therapist, Speaker, Mental Health Advocate

As a first-generation Nigerian, I grew up with three expected career paths: becoming a doctor, lawyer, or engineer. Despite my family's strong opinions about pursuing a high-income career, I chose to follow my dream of becoming a therapist. With over eight years of experience in the mental health profession, I decided to take control of my passion by starting my own practice. My goal is to provide therapy for underserved populations without the constraints of major agencies that prioritize the quantity of clients over the quality of care.

I am deeply committed to raising mental health awareness, especially within the Black community, where stigma often persists. With extensive training in complex trauma, I understand the many types of traumas that go untreated in our community because they are not always recognized as trauma. I strive to empower my clients by helping them define and validate their experiences, no matter how they have minimized them to cope.

Together, we will identify and utilize the tools, resources, and skills needed to adapt and succeed. My aim is for you to always feel empowered and happier in your decisions, bringing a new sense of hope. I believe in meeting you where you are and tailoring therapy to your individual needs. You are the expert on your life, but you don't have to navigate it alone. We can work together to improve your relationships and your interactions with the world around you.

Healing is possible, change is possible, and better mental health is possible. We just have to start. Let me support you on your journey!
